Brand & Portrait Photography Digbeth Birmingham With Marianne Ashton-Booth

Myself and Marianne knew each other in our twenties, when we were starting our professional and dancing careers in London. We always got along well, I admired her wit and creativity. I left London to pursue photography and when I travelled to Australia and back again and we lost touch. I was so over the moon to discover recently that she was an admirer of my work and was interested in working together on her personal branding project. She oozes Northern style, warmth and creativity. When I received her initial brand questions it was clear she was passionate and confident in what she did and I just knew we’d create something magic together.

With a background in Graphic design she has found herself (through talent, wisdom and pure charm I’m sure!) working for CNN as a Senior Product Designer on CNN Design System. In her words…..” I obsess and love the details that most find mundane and basically Marie Kondo the shit out of websites and software libraries.”

I absolutely love that she’s killing it in a tech world predominantly ran by men. The brief? We talked about reflecting where she is now and projecting her to where she wants to be, to be taken seriously as a design leader. I knew she’d come to the write place.

We had a planning session and mashed out the where, when and style and met for a days branding and portrait shoot at a studio in Digbeth. Having both recently become mothers, we had a lot to talk about, catch up on and a lot in common that we were navigating, enjoying and struggling with. With a suitcase full of clothes and some well planned colour schemes and backdrops. We talked, drank tea, listened to music and created what you see below….play basically. I’ve popped her words down here. She has now excepted a promotion with a new exciting company and we are both buzzing from the experience.
